I’m excited to be kicking off my gift guides this holiday season and it couldn’t be more appropriate than to start with a baby’s first holiday gift guide since this will be Mason’s first Christmas and Hanukkah. Seeing as he’s only going to be three months old (or 14 weeks to be exact) it’s not like he is going to remember this year so it’s more about us capturing the memory to share with him when he’s older. So what to you get a newborn baby for his/her first holiday? Well here are some ideas I’ve got beside the usual outfit or baby essentials like pacifiers or diapers.
Plush toys are always a good idea for a first holiday gift for a newborn baby. While they may not be able to play with it right now, before you know it they’ll not want to let it go! The little lamb bookends would make a lovely addition to their nursery and while it may be more for the parents than the baby, I think it’s a good gift option for the little one that first year since like I said before baby doesn’t really need much more than the essentials that mom and dad by now probably already have. The plush soldier is another great toy option for baby for the holidays. Baby is going to need a piggy bank and so it makes a great gift idea for their first holiday. I found this silver moon piggy bank and thought it was just the cutest. This company also has other options besides the moon too. The baby’s first year book is perfect for capturing all the first year memories. Again, this may be more of a parent gift now but down the road it’s the perfect keepsake and something they can look back on with baby when he/she gets older. Knit slippers are a cozy gift option for baby and will be perfect for the winter months. I love the little poms on this pair as well (so cute!!) and is great for a boy or girl. I’m thinking this velour jumpsuit would be perfect for Christmas morning for your baby boy so this might have to come as an early Christmas Eve gift. I know that a silver fork and spoon may seem a little ridiculous especially for a baby that doesn’t eat food yet but for some reason I was still compelled to include it 😉 I think it is one of those special gifts for baby that they can use for special occasions for years to come. The little owl rattle is definitely something baby can use right away and is super cute. A personalized gift is always a good idea and this initial blanket is perfect for a little one. I love this grey and white version perfect for a boy or girl and will match any nursery decor. I couldn’t leave out a baby’s first Christmas ornament for your tree off this gift list because you know all parents want something to remember their baby’s first. If you’re local to Santa Cruz there is an awesome artist who creates custom clay keepsakes and can make an ornament with your baby’s hand or foot print. Such a great idea for the holidays and also a great way to chart your baby’s growth. Justin and I purchased a few so that we will always be reminded of how tiny Mason was at one month old. For all those conscious parents, which I don’t know anyone who isn’t, wooden toys, rattles, and teeters are a great gift option. I love this little hippo that is a teether and rattle in one.
