When I saw this dress online I was a little worried if it was going to fit me because of my baby bump. From the pictures it looked like there would be room but that’s what I thought before and had been wrong. I had an unfortunate mail day a couple weeks prior to deciding to order this dress when two of the three dresses I ordered (all one size up from my usual size) still didn’t fit around my belly. It was a little tough to swallow because even though I know this is part of pregnancy, and I knew I have a mid-section much larger than it was before I was pregnant, I guess I wasn’t prepared to be as different as I was at this stage. Please don’t take this as a complaint, I am beyond thrilled to be pregnant and I am happy my baby is healthy and growing, it’s still challenging to find clothes that fit without being either a little uncomfortable or too big since I’m at that mid-stage where I’m not quite ready to start wearing maternity clothes but my pre-pregnancy closet is becoming smaller and smaller with clothes that I can actually fit in comfortably at the moment. The pieces that I buy now, I want them to last at least a little while during my pregnancy and also be able to be worn postpartum. From this I learned I really can’t order anything now that has a more defined waist even if it looks like it would hit at my natural, high-waist. Ok, so I went a little bit on a tangent, but I’m sure I am not the first person to have this struggle and I know I won’t be the last. So before I decided on what size to order, I read the reviews/size fit instructions and it seemed like it ran on the large side so I felt confident that if I ordered a size small that I would be able to wear it for a while. When it finally arrived at my house, I was able to breath a sigh of relief when I tried it on and I had plenty of room to grow! The tie waist definitely helps because I can obviously make it loose or more fitted when my belly goes back down to normal. I love all the details on this Kate Spade shirt dress from the pinstripes to the small ruffle detail. The way it fits right now, it’s hard to tell I even have a baby bump, but then again, it’s also the angle of the pictures 😉
