Wedding season is upon us and I hear far too often that wedding guests aren’t sure what to wear to the upcoming weddings their attending. Your goal is to look and feel fabulous but never upstage the bride. And is that even possible, I don’t think so, but there are some rules/wedding etiquette to follow. I’m sure you all know that you’re not allowed to wear white to someone else wedding so I don’t feel like I need to go into it. Though, I have been to a wedding where one of the guests did wear white and I was a little bit beside myself. It’s one thing if the bride decides to have her bridesmaids wear white, cream, off-white, or a light champagne but if you’re not part of the bridal party just don’t even think about it.
Then there’s been the talk about wearing red. Red is definitely a power color and can be a bit distracting so again I tend to say to stay away from an all red dress. But besides that, your options are endless. Depending on time of day and time of year you obviously want to be dressed appropriately. The more modest the hemline the more respectful you are being to the bride. You don’t have to be completely covered up to be respectful just don’t be overly sexy.
I love this Red Valentino dress because the neckline while it’s straight across is still flattering. I love the vertical and horizontal stripes. The mix of colors is also fun and makes it easy to wear to both a daytime wedding as it would be to wear to an evening wedding. I love mixing patterns and so I thought what better to pair with this stripe dress than floral heels. These two tone beauties are from Donald J Pliner and I absolutely love them! They’re so chic but also so comfortable so I can easily wear them all night.
