Mason loves my Peloton bike and if I’m not looking he will climb up it as best he can to sit on the seat. No matter how many times I let him know how dangerous that can be he wants to ride the bike just like mommy. So, I have had my eye on the Fisher Price Think & Learn stationary bike as a gift for his birthday this year. I was shocked at how expensive they’ve gotten since their first release. Thankfully I was able to buy one used from my friend who was getting rid of theirs.
When the Fisher Price Think & Learn stationary bike first came out I thought it would be fun to DIY it so that it looked like a mini Peloton bike. Then Mason and I could ride together and I wouldn’t have to space my classes around his nap schedule or wake up at the crack of dawn before he does to get a ride in. So, that is exactly what I did. I bought some satin finish black spray paint and some frog tape to tape off the areas that I didn’t want to spray paint. I ended up going back to Home Depot to buy a clear matte spray as I found very quickly how easy it could chip off.
I know this is a toddler toy and it’s going to get banged up after a while but the perfectionist in me wanted it to be perfect for Mason when he first sees it. Also, I figured I might as well do my very best to keep it looking a nice as possible for as long as possible. Hence the extra layer to protect and seal the black paint.
A friend of mine has a Cricut machine and so I asked her if she could print out decals for me to put on the newly DIY’d Fisher Price Think & Learn stationary bike. I grabbed the Peloton logos online and then created png files for her to use. Here are the before and afters along with my step-by-step process to get this done for him, just in time for his 4th birthday.
