I feel like everyone puts away their sequin pieces after New Years. I know they’re typically considered holiday attire but there are ways to extend the life of your sequin pieces.
How to wear sequins after New Years
1. You can dress down your sequin skirt with a casual sweater or cotton t-shirt.
2. Layer a blazer or cardigan over a sequin dress.
3. Style some sequin sneakers with your typical denim ensemble.
4. Find pieces with just a splash of sequins. (Like my sequin sleeve shirt)
This top is the perfect way to incorporate sequins into your outfit and it doesn’t at all seem out of place after the holidays. The added sparkle from the champagne/white sequins is a nice touch of luxe to this sweatshirt material tee. This outfit got me a compliment recently that topped the charts for best compliment from a stranger. I posted about it on my Instagram already but in case you’re not following me on Insta I’ll mention it again here.
Backstory: I wore this outfit to a baby shower recently. I had ordered our gift for the parents-to-be from Nordstrom. I selected store pick up so we could swing by on our way to that baby shower to pick it up. Mason had fallen asleep on the drive over the hill and so when we got to Valley Fair Justin stayed in the car with him while I went in to Nordstrom to pick it up. When I got back to the car Justin went in to use the restroom and rather than me get in the car and potentially wake Mason up from the door closing I decided to wait outside of the car. The cutest woman walked past me with her daughters. She ended up turning around and walked towards me. I thought maybe she was going to ask me a question about where a store was inside the mall or something.
Compliment: Instead, she let me know that she and her daughters thought that I was super stylish and that my outfit was on point. She said that I looked like I could be one of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (I REPEAT Beverly Hills!!!). She said I looked like a mix of Erika, Yolanda, Kyle, and the new girl Teddy. I mean seriously, could I get a better compliment! I don’t think so!! She totally made my day and after I thanked her and let her know that I was a fashion blogger she asked for my blog and Instagram. Ladies, I never have this happen to me so you could imagine how excited and happy I was to have just met someone as cute and sweet as her excited to start following me. I’m terrible with names, so unfortunately I forget hers now, but if you’re reading this post please know it meant the world that you came up to me to let me know you liked my outfit and thought I was stylish!
Anyway, I totally got sidetracked from my post topic today but I just couldn’t not share that with you all. Hope you all like this outfit as much as she did and hope you liked my tips for how to wear sequins after New Years!
