Since I’m trying to figure out my NYFW outfits I decided what better way to share (and get your opinion on) some of the pieces I’m thinking of getting than with a look for less post. I don’t know why this year I’m having such a hard time deciding on my looks. Maybe it’s because I’ve got more outfits to plan for than last year or because I’m trying to stick with a tighter budget. Or maybe, it’s because now that I’m another year into motherhood I’m starting to re-evaluate the statement pieces I would normally purchase. I’m trying to find pieces that are NYFW appropriate but also will fit in seamlessly with my mom life. Is that even possible? I’m not sure it is…
I keep gravitating towards clothing that will make me feel fierce, more like my pre-baby self where I could wear anything I wanted. Now, I feel a lot more constricted only because I’d hate for one of my nice pieces to get ruined because I wore it around Mason. While he would never intend to do so, I don’t even want to put myself in a position where I’ll get upset over something I’m wearing. So my nicer clothes are reserved for parents only time which is not nearly as often as I’d like.
NYFW is my time to play dress up, now more than ever. But the clothes I want (for the most part) are not practical for my everyday life. I love wearing skirts and dresses during NYFW but they mainly stay in my closet at home, with the occasional wear. So, my cost per wear is much higher. Anyway, instead of talking about my mind block when it comes to my outfit prep here is one look I’m considering. I’ll be honest, I have a few pieces from the “label” row and a few from the “for less” row in my shopping cart currently but I’d love to hear which pieces are your favorite!
