I know a number of you asked me to share with you all my favorite skincare products for sensitive, acne prone skin. Since I have sensitive skin and am prone to breakouts, I know the struggle! I knew I would have to find (and share) the best products that wouldn’t irritate your skin but still give you the results you’re after. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect because my friend let me in on a little (big) beauty secret. Beautycounter, a skincare brand I love and trust, was coming out with a new skincare line to address these issues. Thankfully she was able to supply me with the entire Countercontrol line for me to try before the launch (on 8/23) so I could have the time to test all the products out and give you all my honest opinion.
Let me start out by saying that this skincare line is FANTASTIC. I literally feel like my skin has improved in just one week! My skin tone was already much improved after my LaseMD laser facial but these products just continued to build upon where I left off after that one treatment. The products don’t only work, they smell AMAZING. My initial reaction to using the Clear Pore Cleanser was that the smell was divine (something I would smell during a spa appointment) and the tiny beads were a very gentle exfoliator.
The Instant Matte Toner which is geared towards oily skin helped to reduce the size of my pores (noticeably). I don’t have oily skin but I do love matte products because I do get some shine, especially in my t-zone. For the week, I switched off using the All Over Acne Treatment and the SOS Acne Spot Treatment just so I could test out all products. I mainly need the spot treatment for my occasional breakout but I was feeling like my skin overall has been breaking out a little more lately so I tested the All Over Treatment as well. I’d say that the SOS Spot Treatment was able to clear up my breakouts within a day or two (if it was a pesky one).
My favorite product in the line has got to be the Matte Effect Gel Cream. This is their version of a moisturizer. I love that it has a matte finish. It gave my skin that flawless look even before putting any makeup on. As a mom, there are often times that I run out of the house without makeup on. Before, I definitely would have been embarrassed had I run into someone I know. My closest friends have all seen me without makeup and that’s not who I’m talking about. But, after my skincare routine alone, I felt like I could walk out of the house and feel good knowing my skin tone looked even, the texture of my skin was great, and I didn’t have to worry about any shine. This oil-free gel cream goes on silky smooth and leaves your skin feeling AMAZING.
This past week, I have been letting my skin breath after putting on these products sometimes for hours before applying my makeup (if I had to) because my skin felt so good, and smelled so good I didn’t want to start applying more product over it. If you’re looking for a new skincare regime I would highly recommend these products. They truly have made a difference in such a short amount of time. I can’t wait to see what results I’ll have after more continued use.
