Ever find that one dress you want but can’t justify the price? It happens to me all the time! There’s this one dress from Self Portrait (well really any dress from Self Portrait) that I’ve been eyeing forever but as a new(ish) mom I just can’t justify the cost. I don’t have fancy events to go to all that often anymore, and date nights with the hubby are few and far between (he’s just so busy). So splurging on a pink lace dress I might only be able to wear once or twice just isn’t in the cards for me at this time. Well I’ve found a dupe to this Self Portrait dress I’ve been coveting and ladies I just had to share it with you!
You might have seen my Instagram post the other week with me wearing it at The Ritz Carlton in Half Moon Bay. This pink lace dress is from Borrowed by Design. While the quality and construction is no where near the same as the Self Portrait dress it’s pretty darn good for the price! Plus 10% of the proceeds goes to help the lives of women hit by adversity, rape, and abuse. Sounds like a pretty awesome company to me, right!
Like many other discount fashion sites it is imperative that you check the measurements. I’m typically an XS/small and in this dress I’m wearing a large. The two other dresses I ordered from their site I got in size medium. The main area where the sizing really matters is in the chest, waist, and for you taller ladies the length. I’m currently a 34C (thanks to breastfeeding) and so the smaller sizes would have been way too tight in the bust. This pink lace dress would have fit in the size medium, in other areas, but again the bust would have been tight. If I would have ordered my usual size small then I wouldn’t have been able to zip it up past my waist as the measurements showed that your natural waist needed to be a couple cm smaller than mine currently is. Just wanted to give you all some sizing reference because it’s so important to look past the size on the label and just order what will fit your body.
