Happy New Year! This is my first post of 2019!! I was originally planning this post for the end of 2018 but after I got sick on Christmas I decided to give myself a much needed break and some time off from the blog. But I couldn’t not share about my last trip of 2018 because it was to one of my favorite places in wine country! I did already share all three outfits that I wore while in Yountville but if you missed them you can check them out here and here. If you and your girlfriends are looking for a fun wine tasting and foodie trip then look no further than Yountville, CA. Yountville is probably my favorite spots in Napa Valley. Mainly because you can’t find more Michelin Star restaurants in such a small vicinity except for in Yountville. And, I am slowly eating my way through all of them! This trip I went to two restaurants I haven’t eaten at before, Ad Hoc and Bottega. Both were really good but I think I enjoyed Bottega more.
There are certain things I need to do every time I’m in wine country. A few of my favorite sparkling wines are in Napa Valley, Mumm and Domaine Carneros. This was the first trip ever that I didn’t make it to Domaine Carneros. I was a little bummed just because I love picking up a few bottles that you can’t purchase in stores around town but we did make it to Mumm so that was good.
I hadn’t been on a girls trip in forever so it was really nice to get a few days away to relax and enjoy ourselves. The trip worked out to where we went just days after my birthday so it was fun to add in a little bday celebration everywhere we went. Both Ad Hoc and Bottega had special birthday surprises for me which was so nice. My friends really know how to make me feel special. Even though the trip wasn’t about me and my birthday, I did really appreciate the gestures.
Where we stayed – Napa Valley Lodge, Yountville
Where we went wine tasting – Mumm, V.Sattui Winery, Peju Province Winery.
Where we ate – Napa Valley Lodge, Ad Hoc, V.Sattui Winery and Italian Marketplace, Bottega, and Bouchon Bakery.
This was probably the first trip where it was less about wine tasting and more about relaxing and eating. Plus we had our fair share of amazing wines and bubbles at the restaurants that we ate at. Or maybe it’s because now I’m older and have a much lower tolerance for alcohol but three wineries was about all I could do and honestly I didn’t really wine taste at V.Sattui because you couldn’t just order a glass you had to do their larger wine tasting and I’m not a fan of red wine, which is what they have most of. I went all out at Mumm because I’m a big fan and knew I’d enjoy everything! I did a partial tasting at Peju since they have a few whites and a rose that I like.
When you go to wine country, do you spend all day wine tasting or do you like to mix in some shopping and relaxing?
