I feel like this year it’s totally acceptable to already have your Christmas decorations up around the house. We definitely do, and I am not at all embarrassed or ashamed about it. We’re bringing the Christmas Spirit into our home earlier than we normally do. I’m a day/weekend after Thanksgiving decorator usually. But Mason has been so excited for Christmas this year and couldn’t wait to get decorating so here we are decking the halls and slowly putting together our living room decor and front porch decor. To go along with this theme, I figured before I start sharing my holiday gift guides that I would kick off the holiday season with a “Countdown to Christmas” themed post sharing the best advent calendars as well as family holiday activities to do at home leading up to Christmas.
This is the first year we’re going to do Elf on the Shelf and I am actually looking forward to it. I thought it would be too much for me to handle moving the Elf around nightly and coming up with themes to keep Mason engaged with it BUT I found the cutest printable that makes Elf on the Shelf a piece of cake! There’s daily activities that the Elf will be having your kid/s do, making for a little holiday cheer all December long. If you’re interested in getting yourself a copy you can order it here and with my link you can get it for only $27! Besides Elf on the Shelf, they also have a Countdown to Christmas version for those who don’t do Elf on the Shelf. The activities are practically the same, without the Elf aspect.

Another fun thing to do to gear up for the holidays is Advent Calendars. There is honestly a calendar for everyone I feel and so I wanted to round up the best ones I’ve found that you can order. We’ve never done Advent Calendars before but figured this year could be fun to start! 2020 is going to be the year of adding new family holiday traditions. We’ll of course stick to our old favorites, or in the case of our matching family jammy tradition something Justin reluctantly goes along with since he knows how happy it makes me (and Mason)!
