You probably remember that pom pom outfit that I wore during NYFW to the RewardStyle rooftop party. If not, check it out here for all the pom pom goodness!! When I spotted this pom pom tee and decided to wear it with this gorgeous asymmetrical silk skirt I knew I needed some fun heels to tie it all together. I was searching online and couldn’t find what I was looking for so I decided to DIY a pair of Pom Pom heels!
I loved these Steve Madden fringe heels and wore them to the max when I bought them but they’d been sitting on my shoe shelf for quite some time completely unused so I decided that they’d be ok to use since I wasn’t jumping at putting together an outfit around them for a while.
I found these large pom poms from Paper Source on sale. They had a few different color packs and I bought them all since I didn’t have the top or heels with me when I found them. I cut the fringe off the ankle straps with regular sissors just staying as close as possible to the suede strap without cutting into it. Just by doing that alone the heels look totally different as you would expect they would. I picked the three colors I thought best fit with the colors in my t-shirt and then laid them out until I settled on the order on each side. I had brought super glue since that’s all we had in the house but when I was ready to use it I found out that it was all dried up! I went to the closest store to my hotel and found a hot glue gun and glue sticks which worked perfectly.
This DIY project was super easy and didn’t take me much time at all to complete once I had the glue gun and glue. The poms stayed on all night long even as I danced the night away!! They held up on the flight home in my suitcase and now are sitting pretty on my shelf just waiting to be worn again as their new look!
What do you think about these DIY Pom Pom heels?! Would you want to try and pom pom a pair of your own?
Ps I found another cute pom pom DIY using caged heels and now I’m thinking I might need to do one like these as well!
