Justin and I took Mason for his first amusement park experience this past weekend at California’s Great America! We got to the park shortly after it opened and let me tell you, it was already busy. So many people spend the day at California’s Great America, and I understand why. As a family, we all had so much fun. My parents even joined us for a fun filled day at the park. Thanks to California’s Great America and my partnership with them, they sent us park passes for the whole family, fast passes so we could breeze through and not wait in the lines, and food and drink passes to enjoy all day long. This was seriously such an amazing set up, and there was something for all of us. Of course, this being Mason’s first amusement park visit, he was (and always is) the priority.
The first ride we took him on, we almost immediately regretted. Not because it wasn’t fun, because it was, but because we didn’t realize that it wasn’t really an age appropriate ride for Mason. It was called the Flying Eagle (pictured right above) and Mason really likes planes so he seemed super excited to go on it! He met the height requirement so we went for it. Mason’s initial reaction was excitement as the ride started but quickly turned to fear. I was holding my breath the entire time till it was over. Mason was in the plane with Justin so I was sitting in the plane behind them and it was so hard to see him so scared. We learned our lesson and quickly started taking note of the “thrill” level on the rides.
Our next stop of the day was the carousel. It’s the first thing you see when you enter the park and I knew that Mason would love to ride up and down. It was a big hit and definitely made up for the first ride being a bust for him. We came back to the carousel again later in the day because he enjoyed it so much. After that we decided to head to the area of the park more designated for little ones, Planet Snoopy. I’m so glad we brought his stroller! I just knew that he would be needing his afternoon nap and I didn’t want to cut our day at California’s Great America short because of it. After we road on the Pumpkin Patch it was lights out for Mason, shortly after. We took advantage of his nap time by going on some rollercoasters! We even did a couple of them twice since we had the fast passes. That was seriously so nice to have and definitely something we will get again next time we go. You can get so many more rides in, in an afternoon with the fast pass. I’d highly recommend getting them, especially if you have young kids because you’ll want to get in as many rides for them, but also get in as many rides as you can for you. Switching off who stayed with Mason in the stroller was easy since we could always quickly get on and off a ride so no one was ever left for too long!
As always, thank you so much for stopping by the blog today! And a big thank you to California’s Great America for making our experience such a magical one!! Go check out my latest Instagram post and stories highlighting our time at California’s Great America!
