I absolutely love my Madewell colorblock cardigan that I scored during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. It sold out super quick and while I was crossing my fingers for a restock it didn’t come till after the sale was over. I found a dupe on Amazon that I wanted to compare it to, since the images on Amazon were that of another blogger wearing the Madewell cardigan. I absolutely HATE when Amazon fashion brands steal images to use to promote their similar product. We all know that they’re dupes and definitely not going to be the same quality.
But, I was so curious to see how similar they were going to be. So I decided to order one in the same color combo to do a side by side comparison for you. Since I know that many of you love the price point you can get on Amazon, and lot’s of you really wanted that cardigan, I felt the need to share.
First thing to note, is that the fabric is not at all the same. The Madewell color block cardigan has mohair in it, which is what gives it that soft and cozy feel. The Amazon cardigan is a lightweight material and it not cozy in the slightest. This cardigan would be great for Fall transition when it’s not quite cold enough yet for a thicker cardigan.
Second thing to note, is the fit. I ordered a size small in both the Madewell cardigan and the Amazon cardigan. In Madewell I would normally order an XS but it sold out before I could get my hands on it. The fit is very oversized, which I love. It’s like being wrapped up in a soft blanket that you can go out in public in. The Amazon cardigan is not oversized. It has a higher fit around the arms. And again, being a thinner material the fit is just way different. The length is spot on though. They both hit me right at the same spot on my thigh.
Third thing to note, is the colors. While the Amazon cardigan does a good job of matching the colors of the Madewell cardigan, due to the material the colors read a lot more bold in the Amazon cardigan. The yarn of the Madewell cardigan gives a softer tone. The pink is more muted and so is the chestnut brown. The yarn is also not totally solid (hope that makes sense) and so there is more depth to the color.
So those are the major differences. Now onto my thoughts on the Amazon cardigan. I have to say that for the price it’s really nice. I like that it’s lightweight and a great layering piece to make your outfits feel like fall even if its still hot outside. We’ve been experiencing high 80s to low 90s temps yet again and so while I’ve wanted to wear my Madewell colorblock cardigan, it literally makes no sense.
