Right when the weather started to warm up I was on the hunt for the perfect summer maxi. Now, I have a number of summer dresses in my closet already, that are work and weekend appropriate, but knowing that long hot summer days are in my very near future I would need a few more to mix in so that I wasn’t going to be wearing the same few on rotation. Thanks to a perfect collaboration between Banana Republic and Marimekko I found the perfect summer maxi! It wasn’t easy to obtain, said dress, because 1. I wasn’t able to hit up Banana Republic on the day of the launch and 2. My local Banana Republic, Stanford Shopping Center, didn’t even receive the dress, nor did the other Bay Area locations! But, persistence pays off and after calling multiple stores on the East Coast I was able to locate one in my size. I waited over a week and a half to receive the dress after I purchased it and the anticipation was killing me! So, let’s just say, when it arrived I ripped open the package, put it on to make sure it fit, and wore it the next day to work!
I’m happy that I was able to score my perfect summer maxi. There are really only two things I look for in a perfect maxi dress and that is 1. A great print, pattern, or color. Because in the summertime, well anytime for that matter but especially during the summer, I like to add as much playfulness as possible to my outfits. (This dress has both a fun bold print and a great bright color.) 2. It’s light, airy, and flows nicely but doesn’t make me look like I’m shapeless. (The fact that there is a tie at my high waist helps this otherwise voluminous dress not overtake me.)
I’m still on the hunt for a few more summer dresses but I couldn’t be happier with my latest. Have you found your perfect summer maxi dress yet?
