It’s summertime and the days are warmer and longer, and I’m now 24 weeks pregnant and getting closer to entering my third trimester (two weeks to go)! I’m so ready to go on a babymoon, but Justin’s work schedule is making it so that we can’t really take any significant time off, so we’ll be going on little weekend trips instead. When thinking about beautiful destinations and what I’d bring, two summer trends come to mind: tropical and Americana. You can find both trends almost anywhere you go right now, but Target has a great selection at affordable prices, and this mama-to-be who is growing every day is all about either buying items that are super affordable or investing in pieces that can grow with me as well as fit after baby arrives and I start to look like myself again. On weekend getaways, I tend to not want to pack too much clothes since after my makeup, hair products, shoe options, and accessories, I’m usually overloaded anyway. So considering pieces I can take from day to night or wear more than once in a different way is always a good thing.

My Americana pieces are perfect for a day at the beach, then dinner on the wharf. These shorts and kimono are a perfect set, but look great when mixed up as well. For the afternoon at the beach or walking around in a beach town, this outfit is perfect. Easy to take on and off when I want to get some sun or go in the ocean, but still looking put together. Swap out the shorts for some white denim pants and add a button-down shirt and heels and now your outfit is perfect for dinner, dining al fresco!

My tropical pieces go perfect for a day poolside, relaxing with a tropical mocktail like a virgin pina colada or virgin mojito. This ruched one-piece halter swimsuit is super flattering to my baby bump, and when worn with a pleated skirt it’s perfect for a night out. During the day, this white and grey striped button-down shirt could honestly be worn with either trend it’s so neutral. But I love the mix of prints with the stripes and tropical print.
