Back-to-School Shopping at the Northridge Mall

August 24, 2016

FacebookTwitterPinterestMixEmail

I can’t believe it’s already back-to-school time. While I haven’t been to school in a while I love that back-to-school shopping means shopping for fall! It’s a great time to refresh your wardrobe by mixing in some new pieces that help transition to cooler temps. This year I am for sure excited for fall because I am about to start my maternity leave, which means baby A is going to be here before we know it. But also, I can start to enjoy slightly cooler temps! Though in all honesty, in the Bay Area, September and October tend to be our “summer” weather.

A few weekends ago I emceed a back-to-school fashion show at the Northridge Mall. It was so fun to be a part of their first ever fashion show!! The models were kids from the Boys and Girls club of Monterey County. They showcased outfits from some of the retailers at the Northridge Mall to show off the Fall trends you could be sure to see during your back-to-school shopping.

I took the opportunity before the fashion show in the afternoon to check out some of the different retailers at the Northridge Mall and what they had new in for Fall. The H&M store that they have in the Northridge Mall had some great pieces for now and later. I found a number of dresses my bump could fit into that will still look cute post baby bump! Always a huge plus. I love the prints they have for Fall too!! H&M’s great prices make it an easy destination for back-to-school/fall shopping.

I also went into New York & Company. The colors and prints were calling me from outside their store. Eva Mendes’s collection for NY&Co definitely caught my eye. All of her pieces are structured so well and great for a mom on the go, or working professional. I also saw may pieces that would work great for me post baby!

One program that Northridge Mall has that I am really liking is their Oh, So Simple Rewards program. Rather than having to get individual rewards cards from each of the retailers at the mall you can register your credit card with Oh, So Simple at one of their many kiosks around the mall and overtime as you shop using that credit card at the mall you earn money back! It’s easy to get carried away doing all your fall/back-to-school shopping so it’s a great time to sign up and take advantage of their program. I know I can easily spend $250 dollars and wouldn’t mind getting $10 back for buying something I was already going to purchase.

If you live in the Bay Area then you should definitely check out the Northridge Mall for your back-to-school shopping needs, be it for you or your kids. They’re in the middle of a major renovation upgrading many of their shops and adding new stores like Ulta Beauty and DSW (just in time for back-to-school shopping!). Fall shoes are some of my favorites so I couldn’t be more happy that DSW is now open (Grand Opening was August 18th). Be on the lookout for fall florals, more fridge, hoodies that can be dressed up or down (the athleisure trend is still going strong), and color combinations of grey, burgundy, navy, and coral. I’m always a big fan of print mixing too and right now there are tons of amazing fall prints to add to your wardrobe!

You've got a friend in me You've got a friend in m You've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me
When the road looks rough ahead
And you're miles and miles
From your nice warm bed
You just remember what your old pal said
Boy, you've got a friend in me
Yeah, you've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me
You got troubles, I've got 'em too
There isn't anything I wouldn't do for you
We stick together and see it through
'Cause you've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me
Some other folks might be
A little bit smarter than I am
Bigger and stronger too
Maybe
But none of them will ever love you
The way I do
It's me and you, boy
And as the years go by
Our friendship will never die
You're gonna see it's our destiny
You've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me

5 Top tips for doing Disneyland with young kids: 5 Top tips for doing Disneyland with young kids:
1. Buy lightning lane passes!! Sign up for Disney Genie and get your lightning lane passes. Yes it’s more money on top of your already expensive tickets BUT you can maximize your time at the parks! Especially with young kids where you’re going to need to take breaks during the day for nap time. This way you can do more each day without the stress or wait in long lines.
2. When you get to the ride do a rider swap. That way your child who is tall enough to ride gets to go twice. Once with each parent while the other stays back with the baby or children too small to ride.
3. As soon as they scan your lightning lane pass for the ride book your next one while you wait in line. (Even though the line and wait is significantly shorter you’ll still have time to see what you can go on next.)
4. Take advantage of the Disney PhotoPass photo opportunities around the park as a family since the pictures are included with the purchase of your daily lightning lane passes.
5. Remember to go with the flow and have fun making memories at the most magical place on earth!
