Candytopia, is a pop up museum like the Color Factory or Museum of Ice Cream. I’ve been to the two latter ones in San Francisco and know that Candytopia just opened in SF. But, since I was traveling to New York for NYFW and Candytopia was still open in the Big Apple I decided to pay the pop up museum a visit. I went on my first night before NYFW officially kicked off the following day. My plane landed at around 5pm. I jetted off to my hotel to check-in, change, and race before the last time slot for Candytopia at 8:30pm.
Not gonna lie, I definitely felt rushed to get there but it was worth it! These pop up museums are so much fun. I definitely felt like a kid in a candy store. Or as it’s intended, Willy Wonka in the Chocolate Factory. It’s crazy to see the artwork made out of nothing but candy. They are so intricately made. I’m not really a big candy person so I didn’t actually take any of the candy but I did love all the different photo ops.
I will say that I was disappointed Candytopia wasn’t as interactive as the other pop ups I had been to. Yes, there were some people around to to throw confetti at us midway through the museum and for some photo ops but I just felt like the other museums I had been too there was more going on in each of the rooms. Maybe it was because I went at the end of the night or close to the end of their run in New York but I felt like it just didn’t have the same energy as the others.
I’m curious to hear how people like it in San Francisco since Candytopia has just recently opened up there. I may have to go see for myself!
