You most likely don’t know this, but I used to be a ballet dancer. Ballet was my life from age three until age 18. When my career ended, due to injury, I held onto bags of my things in storage, from one-of-a-kind leotards, warmers, and even my custom pointe shoes, in hopes that one day I would miraculously no longer have chronic achilles tendentious and be able to get right back in the studio and be as good as I was prior to my injury (sadly I knew that would not be my reality). So with my latest move I finally went through everything and decided it was best to donate everything to dancers who might not have the money to purchase new leotards or buy their first pairs of pointe shoes (if anyone has teeny tiny feet like me), except for a few key items, hence the title of this post.
Not always do the things in your closet work the way you might want them to in an outfit, a blouse too loose, a top a little too cropped, or a sweater too long. There are tricks in the trade to fix all those problems. Today I’m touching on the latter, a sweater too long. When you have a high waist skirt that is a knit tucking in a sweater can be too bulky, you can add a belt to the outside to cinch in the waist but the sweater will still be covering your stomach and if you’re anything like me you try and keep that area looking as tiny as possible. So In comes the ballet belt; thin and elastic it doesn’t add bulk and your sweater stays put all day. If you are not a ballet dancer, you’re in luck because there are elastic headbands that will also do the trick.
Do you have any fashion tricks up your sleeve? Would love to hear them!
