It’s my first Mother’s Day as a mom and I am pretty excited about it!
It’s that time of year again when we start to think about Mother’s Day and how we’re going to celebrate the mamas in our life (which we should be celebrating year round, amiright?!). And I can’t believe that this will be my first Mother’s Day as a mom!! I mean of course I can as I’ve been a mama for a little over 7 months now but it’s crazy to think that now on top of celebrating all the moms in my life, I too will be celebrated!
For Mother’s Day this year if you live in the Bay Area you can treat, shop, and celebrate mom all in one location, Santana Row! Santana Row has so much to offer from great restaurants, spas, and shops, to a movie theater and wine bar. You can’t go wrong with anything for mom from there. As a relatively new mom and first Mother’s Day mama I thought I’d share with you all the places that I think would be the best gifts for your first time mom this Mother’s Day. So sit back and enjoy as I take care of all the leg work and all you have to do is decide which options you think are best for your mom, wife, mother to your baby, sister…you get the point!
Kate Spade
Kate Spade is a great place to find the perfect Mother’s Day gift for the new mama in your life. If she’s anything like me she loves her baby but still values those things that are important to her. For me expressing myself through my personal style is a big one. I never want to give that up no matter how much the spit up threatens a good outfit. Kate Spade is known for their super cute clothes, accessories, shoes, jewelry, and adorable selection of handbags. This season they’re trying something new and right in time for Mother’s Day. A bag that is completely customizable! They’re starting out with just a few of their classic styles where you can select everything from the handbag flap, bag body, and strap. There are even small accessories you can add to your bag. Guys, kids, family, this would make for a very special gift this Mother’s Day! You may be afraid to pick out the pieces you think would be represent her, but trust me when I say this she will be not only blown away by the thoughtfulness of this gift but will also love it!!! And if she wants to switch it up, rather than having to go and buy a whole new bag she can purchase extra pieces to switch up her bag from one day to the next.
Lululemon
If your new mom has been working hard to get her body back into pre-baby shape, then a gift card or gift from Lululemon will be the perfect gift to show your love and support for her. Nothing makes you feel more motivated to go workout than new workout clothes that make you feel and look good. Trust me, she will be so happy to receive a sports bra that is comfortable and actually fits her new chest then trying to squeeze them into her old sports bras. A cute jacket will make it that much more comfortable for her to get outside with her baby and go on a run with the stroller or take an excursive class outdoors.
Gucci
You might be thinking, isn’t that a ridiculously crazy expensive gift for Mother’s Day? Well fellas, not on her first Mother’s Day it isn’t! Gucci it full of “it” things to fit your budget. The Gucci Marmont collection is totally trending right now and every girl has got her eye on either the belt, bag, or shoes. Then there’s the Princetown slippers everyone is going crazy for. She will love you for getting her a pair of the most stylish and comfortable shoes. Get them with the lamb fur lining and she’ll be wanting to wear them out all day and while inside the house. There’s also the super cute silk headbands which are perfect for keeping her hair out of her face and away from little baby fingers just waiting to pull on it. They have so many prints available I’m sure you’ll find one she would love.
Splendid
Splendid is one of my favorite shops on The Row. They have the absolute comfiest clothes for mama and baby. I wore so many of their dresses while I was pregnant because they are stylish and comfortable and the material stretched so nicely with my growing belly and has since shrunk back down so I can still wear them. One big struggle new moms have who are breastfeeding is finding nursing friendly clothes that are cute. I’ve found a few great pieces from Splendid that while are not actual nursing clothes, they are nursing friendly. The material for the most part is so stretchy that you moms who have the courage to just whip out the boob when your baby needs it will probably find even more pieces that they love in this store for Mother’s Day. But I like to be a little more modest and thankfully they have a number of cross front dresses and tops with a snap closure so it’s easy to move one side over when you need to nurse. Also, I got to give a shout out to their loungewear. For your SAHM, she would love to be wearing their sweats all day because they’re that comfortable and again more stylish than your regular pair of sweats and sweatshirt.
Anthropologie
I can’t go to Santana Row and not stop in Anthro. They have so many amazing pieces all the time from clothes, accessories, home decor, kitchen pieces, and much more. Right now there are many off the shoulder (OTS) and tops with front button details which are great for nursing. I’m also a huge fan of their latte bowls (mama needs her coffee) and they have the best assortment of candles. You could easily swing into Anthropologie and walk out with a great Mother’s Day gift.
Kendra Scott
I am so happy that a Kendra Scott store came to the Bay Area!! I’ve been a huge Kendra Scott fan for years, I’ve visited her showroom in New York during NYFW a couple seasons and always love her jewelry. I love their color bar where you can customize your jewelry. This would make for an incredibly special Mother’s Day gift. They also just recently launched a fine jewelry collection which is gorgeous!! They have some beautiful, delicate, diamond earrings, and cuffs that would make any mama swoon. They also have a bunch of Mother’s Day gift sets (all under $100) which would be a perfect gift as well.
So you’ve got the gift part covered but what are you going to do on Mother’s Day? You’ve got plenty of options on The Row! I love the food options for brunch, lunch, or dinner. Tacolicious, an all time fav of mine, more recently opened a location on Santana Row. I just ate lunch there the other day and well, as expected, it was just as good as their original location in the Marina that I used to frequent 2 or more times a week! Then there’s Pizza Antica. I love their food and if I wasn’t dairy free right now for Mason I would have for sure eaten there more recently than this past summer during my pregnancy. Roots and Rye is another fun restaurant to go to. The interior is so cool and the food is delicious! I don’t forget about your mamas sweet tooth! Sugarfina is the perfect place to create a customized bento box full of her favorite sweets and savory treats!
And why not start out the day with a little pampering for mom. I love getting my hair blown out at DryBar! Get a glass of bubbly with your blow out to kick start the Mother’s Day celebration. And why not also pamper mom with a manicure and pedicure at Lavande Nail Spa. She will be so appreciative of the extra love!
I hope this helps you with your Mother’s Day plans and gift ideas for all the mamas in your life!
