Since I haven’t been able to get a facial in what feels like forever, I decided to give this pore vacuum a try to see if it couldn’t help minimize the size of my pores. I also have more clogged pores than normal and was hoping this could also help clear them out. I have seriously upped my skincare game since SIP (shelter in place) but without getting a much needed facial my skin was still needing some extra TLC when it came to my pores.
So let’s start out by chatting about how I’ve been using this product. I have been using my pore vacuum about once a week to give my pores a much needed clean out. The first week I had it, I did twice that week. I started out using the soft setting and pretty much stick to that with the exception of a few problem areas where I switch to the regular setting. Honestly, the suction on the regular setting is strong enough. The strong setting seems to be overkill. I hold down my skin so that as I use the pore vacuum my skin isn’t getting pulled too much. And as directed I don’t keep it in any area for too long. The pore vacuum comes with 4 different heads and I’ve tried them all but prefer to use either the large or small round head or the microcrystalline head. The oval head one doesn’t really seem to do much for me.
When you have a new breakout forming I highly recommend treating it with the IPL light right away. This seriously reduces the amount of time you have to deal with breakouts. So for that, use as needed and just spot treat the area with the light and a quick suction if one pops up.
What I like about this product:
The pore vacuum does what it says it’s going to do which is remove blackheads, whiteheads, and helps to exfoliate your skin. I haven’t seen it reduce fine lines yet but I also have only been using it for a little over a month. It definitely works and it can be a little bit addicting especially as you see it working right before your eyes. I find it best to use the pore vacuum right after the shower when your pores are most open. Even after cleansing and washing with warm water, you don’t get the same results as right after the shower. If you have a face steamer that would do the trick as well. I don’t have one yet but I think I might get one.
What I don’t like:
Nothing, really! It’s seriously good and as long as you don’t keep it in one area for too long you don’t have to worry about redness or potentially bruising your skin. I do find that if you try and use a the small round head on larger areas of your face like your cheeks, say there’s a problem blackhead that doesn’t want to be extracted, that even on the soft setting it can be hard to get it to break contact with your skin. Hope that makes sense! So you definitely want to use the larger round heads on larger areas of your face and save the small round head for your on and around your nose.
Oh and if you have sensitive eyes like I do, when you are using the IPL blue light, maybe close your eyes. I felt like my eyes hurt after I was looking in the mirror while using the IPL light all over my face. So if anything, I wish they came with those little eye protectors that they have when you’re getting a facial and they use IPL treatment. I couldn’t find any on Amazon with good reviews, or enough reviews, so I didn’t want to share in case they aren’t good! I’d hate to lead you astray on this one.
If you’ve been considering purchasing a product like this and have been wondering if it actually does what it says it will, I hope you found this review to be helpful! There are so many similar products available on Amazon and they all do pretty much the same thing, so I would imagine they all work the same. I’ll share a few of the options, including the one I have of course, that all have great 5 star reviews.
