It’s that time of year again, the 2022 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and like prior years I’ve got all the tips! I’ve changed my shopping habits over the years and am really limiting what I am purchasing during the NSALE. The NSALE is a great time for stocking up on basics, investing in classic pieces, and saving on luxury items you’ve wanted but have yet to purchase.
Like in previous years, I anticipate that shopping the 2022 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale will get frustrating. Some popular items like my Barefoot Dreams cardigan (I own it in charcoal grey) or my Spanx faux leather leggings sell out super fast, so it pays to shop the sale as early as you can if you are looking to add these Fall closet staples to your wardrobe or if it’s time to swap out your tried and true favorite for a new one.
PRO Tip: Get a head start and wishlist all the items you are interested in purchasing prior to the sale starting on Nordstrom.com. You can select the size and color you want for each item (if applicable) so that shopping online and checkout is super easy when you are able to shop the NSALE. This way you’re not spending time during the sale looking through everything, possibly missing out on purchasing the one or two items you really wanted.

Since Nordstrom has opened the 2022 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Preview online I’ve scoured the site to make my selections for my top picks in each category of the sale. You can start wish listing items that you want to purchase now directly on Nordstrom.com, in the LTK app from my Nordstrom image posts and collages, or you can bookmark this post as a reference for when you are able to shop the sale. It’s a great time to shop for investment pieces that won’t go out of style and you can take advantage of the discount on items that you’ll get a lot of use out of, including basics and athletic wear.

Items I think are great to purchase during the NSALE:
1. Athletic wear – If you like to workout as much as me and Justin do it’s worth getting some new gear during the sale. You’ll get some much wear out of them. Alo, Sweaty Betty, and Outdoor Voices have some really good options included in the sale.
2. Basics – Basics like tops, blouses, sweaters, and jeans that you can work into your wardrobe. You won’t regret buying another white blouse, button down shirt, pair of jeans, or cotton v-neck tee.
3. Fall/winter coat – I bought one a few years ago that I am still in love with. It’s neutral so I can wear it with almost anything. This is definitely one item I think it’s good to splurge. Quality over quantity. The cute, trendy plaid coat you’ll wear one season and then be done with it but a classic you’ll have forever!
4. Leather Jacket – If you’re in the market for a leather jacket this would be the time to buy one. There are a few designer versions I’ve spotted that are really good. One is by L’AGENCE and the other one is by AllSaints.
5. Booties – Fall calls for booties and with neutral color choices you can have a little fun with the details. This year there aren’t too many shoes I am really loving but these creamy white booties are cute!
6. Underwear – Buy what you need because it’s best to take advantage of the discount.
7. LBD – If you want to get something for cocktails with the girls, date night, or even a work appropriate dress the little black dress is the way to go. It’s worth the investment to get a good one. I have my eye on this long sleeve LBD.
8. Mens basics – If you guy is anything like my husband his style is pretty set. It’s definitely worth stocking up on the items you know your husband, dad, or son likes to wear. My favorite brands to buy for Justin during the NSALE are TravisMathew, Nordstrom Brand, and Marine Layer.
9. Kids clothes and Baby Gear – If you’ve got a baby on the way, the NSALE is an excellent time to shop for baby gear. Before Mason was born we purchased his carseat, high chair, and a few other items during the sale. Ever since, I’ve been using the sale to purchase clothes for him loading up on basics like t-shirts, shorts and pants. Last year, I purchased matching items for Mason and Cooper and plenty of baby gear. This year the Doona is included in the sale.
10. Beauty products – I like to use the Nordstrom Anniversary sale as a time to stock up on some of my favorite beauty products and to try out a few others that I have been wanting to try. There are some really great deals on beauty and some exclusive sets you won’t be able to purchase after the sale so it’s worth checking out.

And as a little reminder/plug, one way I make money on this blog is through affiliate links. By you clicking on my link/s before shopping the NSale or any sale/retailer I will earn a small commission if you make a purchase. This greatly helps me be able to continue to run Have Need Want and to be able to continue to provide helpful styling tips, outfit inspiration, and all the other content you can find here on the blog. There is no impact to you, but it can help me not only earn commission but also can help me in negotiating and landing partnerships as retailers are able to see the traffic and sales generated through my blog.
