It’s been a couple of seasons since I have been invited to Badgley Mischka’s runway show. I was super excited to get an invite this season. Last time I saw their show it was by far one of my most memorable and favorite runway shows. You can check out my past coverage here. This season I partnered with Redken and was able to go backstage to a number of the shows that they were doing hair for. One of those shows was Badgley Mischka. Since I was able to see the entire production from backstage, final walk rehearsal and the show I figured it best I dedicate a post rather than try and fit bits and pieces into my usual daily diary.
Backstage was quite a zoo (and I mean that in the best way possible). There was so much going on all at once. I absolutely love the hustle and buzz of backstage. It is drastically different than the shows. It’s always cool seeing the hair and makeup up close and to hear a bit of the inspiration behind the looks. They typically hand out what’s called a one sheet. This explains the look and any hero products that are being used.
Redken’s hero product was the Fashion Work 12 Hairspray. I was so impressed with everything they were able to do with the product to create the looks for each of the models. The main look for the show was an ultra polished low ponytail with a lifted pompadour at the top of the crown and a wavy, luminous tail. It was created to look like a horse’s tail. The bouncy waves to move as they walked. An American Glam look meant to highlight the clothes and showcase the jewelry.
I got a sneak peek of the makeup and nail art for the show as well before heading out to watch the final walk rehearsal. I loved the subtle makeup and nails. You never want the hair and makeup to overpower the collections and I feel like the teams working on the Badgley Mischka show did an excellent job.
As to be expected the FW19 collection was absolutely beautiful. There were so many pieces that caught my attention. I’ve included my favorites from the show. The runway images I pulled from the professionals because from where I was sitting it was really hard to capture a quality image.
Since I got to see the hair and makeup being done backstage it was nice to see the final looks all put together. Doesn’t this pony work perfectly with the collection?
And now for the finale! Since I got to watch the final walk rehearsal prior to heading out to check in for the show, I already knew that all the models where going to be walking down the runway together, having some fun along the way, I was anticipating something amazing and boy was I correct! Instead of the models walking out in the pieces they wore down the runway before they were all wearing red. Each dress was so beautiful and the red heels to match. This show was definitely one of my favorites yet again! I seriously need to be invited to a gala, wedding, or formal event so that I can wear one of the dresses from their latest collection…and also a pair of their fabulous heels. But since, mom life, I hope to get my hands on that gorgeous grey embellished sweater when it comes out!!
What did you think of the collection? Did you have a favorite piece?
