And not have to be a celebrity, socialite, fashion editor, or top blogger!
Two things I’ve learned at just my second season attending New York Fashion Week is 1. it pays to be nice and 2. it never hurts to ask. In a handful of shows I attended this season and even a couple shows last season (my first fashion week experience as a blogger) I was able to snag a front row seat! How did I do it? Let me tell you…
The best way to get to sit in the front few rows at fashion week is to introduce yourself to the people who are volunteering at the show as you enter in, be polite and ask them if they will be coming to get people to fill in any empty seats before the show starts or if it’s ok for you to sit down if it looks like the show is about to start and you see a seat open. More often than not when they are needing to fill in some seats they will remember and come to you to fill in an open seat. This is also really good because in the case that the person who originally had that seat shows up at the last minute they will find either that person or you another seat rather than have you stand in the back again.
If they don’t come to get you and you see some open seats introduce yourself to whomever is seated next to the open seat and check to see if someone is sitting there or is supposed to be before just sitting yourself down. This way you are less likely to be pulled from the seat before the show. I saw a number of people who were asked to get up and move for the person who had a ticket for that specific seat.
There were even some shows I didn’t have even a standing ticket for that I really wanted to get into. I was already inside Lincoln Center because of other shows I had seen that day so I went to up to the PR desk and requested a ticket. They always ask who you are affiliated with when they can’t find your name (which I already knew they wouldn’t) but I let them know I am a fashion blogger and gave them the name of my blog. Now, this doesn’t always work, I was definitely turned away from a few but for the ones that did have some room they were able to squeeze me in!
As always, thank you so much for stopping by the blog today. I hope my tips have been helpful!
