My first day of shows at NYFW was so fun. I ended up getting to sit front row at the Supima design competition sitting right across from the fabulous Coco Rocha and fellow fashion bloggers Kelly Lee of Kelly Golightly and Bryan of BryanBoy! The collections were beautiful. Each student was asked to design a capsule collection using premium Supima cotton denims, knits, corduroys, twills, and shirting. I was so impressed with how they were able to manipulate the fabric and make very unique pieces that from the front row looked very rich, had great movement, were visually interesting, intricate, and the craftsmanship was amazing. Sadly, my camera was on the wrong setting so most of my pictures turned out blurry {sad face}. I did get some on my iPhone but please excuse the poor quality! I’ve included some of the professional photographer pictures of my favorite pieces from each designers collection.

Directly after Supima I had to race over to the Hudson Hotel for the Jay Godfrey presentation. {Thank you, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week for supplying the shuttles to take us from Lincoln Center to the off-site shows} When you got to the presentation, you walk into a dark room where the models were standing around the perimeter of a raised square in the center of a room with a live musician playing in the middle. The music was so loud, the lights shown brightly on the models, all setting the tone for the show. The only issue I had was that even though they were trying to limit the number of people in the room at any given time it felt really crowded and was hard to walk around to take a closer look at all of the different outfits in the collection. But let’s talk about the clothes. I loved the collection. It was very western inspired. I loved all the fringe, lace, and denim. The styling was great. The pieces were very wearable and I can definitely see myself wearing a number of these when they are available in Spring 2015.
What are your favorite looks from my NYFW day one shows?
