This Mercedes Benz fashion week I was so happy to get in to see as many shows as I did. A huge step up from last season! I’ve already recapped a number of my favorite shows, but with a list as long as this season I needed to break it up into another post because there were so many memorable collections. I thankfully got to see all the same designers as last season and then some. Jay Godfrey took his presentation from the hub last season to Lincoln Center this season, it was my first time seeing Carmen Marc Valvo which I would definitely recommend you seeing as I was obsessed with the collection, and then old favorites like Lela Rose which I got to see up close this season which was so special. Her designs are so feminine and her collection was broad enough I could see wearing different pieces for a number of occasions. And then there was Leanne Marshall, I’ve been watching her since her Project Runway days and so seeing her first solo NYFW collection was a dream. I ended up sitting in the front row which gave me the best seat in the house to watch her etherial collection float down the runway. Again, it’s always so hard to narrow down a full collection to just a few favorite pieces but here you go. I hope you enjoyed my second roundup of my NYFW FW 15 experience.
Jay Godfrey
I absolutely loved Jay Godfrey’s presentation last season. The western inspiration with the fringe really resonated with me. This season it was the vibrant colors and bold floral prints that tickled my fancy. Who wouldn’t want to wear a hot pink pant suit or bold floral print? Probably the best part of the presentation this season was meeting Jay Godfrey himself. It was so nice to speak with him about his collection.
Carmen Marc Valvo
This collection was absolutely dreamy. I loved the color selection and pattern mixing. Plaid was everywhere and done is such beautiful ways that plaid went from what I typically consider causal wear only to stunning evening wear. I wish I had some weddings and/or black tie events planned in 2016 so I can reserve one of these gowns now! I was sat pretty close to the front for this show but since I’m so short and my torso is short I had a hard time capturing any full length shots. But you can still get a good idea of the collection range in my photos.
Lela Rose
All I can say is wow! Lela Rose creates the most beautifully feminine clothes. I was obsessed with the collection each piece at a time as they came down the runway. Not only was it the prints and colors used in her pieces but also how the materials moved as the models walked the runway. I had probably the second best standing view for taking pictures. They had me stand right next to Lela Rose’s personal photographer! This was probably the hardest collection for me to narrow down, only because I seriously want everything and need some friends to get married ASAP so I can wear one of these dresses, no joke!
Leanne Marshall
Leanne Marshall’s show was the reason why I stayed the entire week this season. I saw she was showing the second to last day and immediately reached out to her PR. I loved seeing her on project runway and honestly was considering having her design my wedding gown. Her collection was stunning. I loved her use of textiles. The detailing was super intricate and it looked like a lot of the dresses were either hand painted or dyed to create such beautiful and unique fabrics. Leanne thought of everything down to the under garments which I’m king of obsessed with! Who wouldn’t want such feminine underwear with all the embellishments and sequins. Super romantic, don’t you think? Anyhoo, here are my top pieces that walked her runway.
All I have to say is it really pays to be nice to everyone, especially those people who volunteer at the shows. I think I’ll write a post about that later…would you be interested in hearing how I got to sit in the front row or close to the front row at so many shows this season? Let me know in the comments section!
