I felt like I wanted to share a little of my life lately because I am sure so many of you can relate. Motherhood during a pandemic is no joke. I’ve been feeling like I am struggling at home even though I am used to being home most of the time, as a stay at home mom. It’s been 5 months of quarantine and sheltering in place and while the world has changed in so many ways, Justin’s work hasn’t changed at all. As a fire fighter his work schedule is business as usual. The same goes for his military obligations. He was away for three weeks in Texas for the Marines and then came home for just two days before his next fire shift.
These past few weeks I’ve been feeling like there’s more on my plate then there is room for. I’ve been trying to live in the moment more and spend as much quality time with Mason as I can. Setting work aside and enjoying motherhood. But, Lexie and Jackson both needed to have surgery a few weeks ago to remove some lumps and so I’ve had my hands full caring for them and making sure they are recovering.
I’ve been a SAHM pretty much since Mason was born (almost 4 years ago), aside from a short stint working part-time for a brand rep. But not having my usual outlets, like taking Mason to the park, having play dates with friends, getting together with friends for coffee, brunch, or lunch, going out of town for a quick weekend trip, going to the movies, or taking a spa day to relax and unwind, it’s been a struggle. It’s been tough for me not having Mason in his normal preschool schedule to relieve me of my mom duties during the day to focus on other things.
Towards the beginning of quarantine I posted my tips for working from home with kids. It’s easier to stay on your WFH schedule with kids if you have the motivation to do so. I’ve been struggling with staying motivated and coming up with content for the blog. So much of my normal content that I would be producing this time of year just doesn’t make sense. Also a lot of the experiences I share on the blog I haven’t been able to do thanks to Covid-19, like our summer travel plans! Our 2019 travels, have me jealous. At least then I had a reason to shop. But I’m probably feeling similar to a lot of you and that I don’t want to buy clothes in anticipation for fall/winter since I have no idea if I’ll have reasons to wear them. I made that mistake already when I shopped for spring/summer in Feb/March. I will be shopping the NSale today since I finally have access to shop but that’s mainly for basics and classic pieces that are currently missing from my closet.
I also find myself getting distracted with working outside on our backyard (which we had a major setback the other day after I accidentally hit our water main), doing small updates to elevate our home, and doing some fun DIY projects. I’ve picked up gardening which I never thought I’d enjoy and I think I’m finally starting to get a green thumb. All this to say, that I’ve been struggling what to post on my blog and social media lately as I feel like I’ve hit a wall of new content I can write about. So I’d love to ask you, what would you like to read about on the blog? Anything I can share with you to help you out?! Let me know in the comments!!
