I’ve been trying out some new nail art recently. You probably wouldn’t believe me if I said our new bookkeeper at work inspired me to try doing my mani’s more often on my own. She comes into the office twice a week and each day she’s in, she has new nail art. She swears by nail tape but because I don’t have nail tape and I didn’t have time to go to a beauty store to try and find it I used the next best thing, painters tape. I have a bunch of painter tape lying around these days, as I just can’t seem to be finished painting our house. A little disclaimer, I’d definitely wouldn’t use painters tape when trying this out because it didn’t do the best job and I definitely went over it a time or two before settling. Maybe try scotch tape if you don’t have nail tape.
To get a simple three-tone nail design start by selecting your base color. I chose to use Essie polish Marshmallow as my base, then covered it with matte polish. I don’t know about you but I think that using a matte top coat helps dry the polish faster. I then cut pieces of painters tape in a triangle shape and laid it across each fingernail. I then painted the bottom section a metallic black from Chanel and then the top section a lilac Essie polish called She’s Picture Perfect (one coat only for a lighter shimmer effect). You can easily swap out the colors to match/compliment your party perfect NYE outfit!
