Today is my last NYFW diary post. I’ve combined day five and six because I flew home on the sixth day and only scheduled in one boutique visit. I’m already thinking about NYFW in February and what I can do differently scheduling wise to maximize my time in New York but also not overwhelm my schedule. Attending NYFW has become addicting. I’ve been going since the launch of Have Need Want in mid-2013. It’s crazy how no matter how many times I’ve attended it never gets old and I’m always learning something new.
On Monday, my show schedule was really light but I had a couple of events I was really looking forward to. I had scheduled in a hair appointment with the Tresemmé team at Spring Studios (NYFW main location this season) in the morning to jumpstart my day. They did a fun fishtail braid that wrapped around the back of my head and a nice blowout for the rest of my hair. I always love what they do with my hair and this time was no exception.
After my hair appointment I hung around to see everyone let out of Zimmermann so I could people watch and see all the gorgeous Zimmermann pieces everyone was wearing. I sadly didn’t get an invite this season which was a total bummer. I first attended her show back at Lincoln Center and I have been a loyal fan and customer ever since. I know the Zimmermann show has become the “it” show to get an invite to and so I can see how they need to be much more selective on what bloggers they invite. But of course I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t totally disappointed. I watched the show live from the screen and was wowed as always by each look that came down the runway. My wishlist is a mile long.
After that I met up with Lavenda (Lavenda’s Closet) for brunch at Two Hands before we headed off to an event hosted by The Riviere Agency. They picked the cutest spot for a NYFW recharge event. The bar/restaurant had the prettiest wallpaper and decor. I was only able to stay for an hour before I needed to take off for my next event. I feel so often shows and events overlap each other so it’s hard to stay the entire time for everything. Obviously, you never should leave a show early (that’s just really rude and disrespectful), but events that run for a couple hours each assume you won’t be there the entire time.
I Ubered to the other side of the city to hang with the girls of Foley and Corinna. I was super excited to be invited to their event. I love their handbags and I was really excited to get a sneak peek of their upcoming collections and be able to learn a little more about them. I was able to meet the founder Laura and speak with her social media/influencer team. I’m super excited about the possibility of partnering up with them in the future.
After the event, it was back to Tribeca! All this back and forth is really tiring and time consuming. I can’t wait for NYFW to go back to a centralized location vs multiple locations for shows. There will always be off-site shows and events but at least there won’t be as much back and forth.
I ended my day with the CAAFD designer showcase and dinner at Buddakan, where Carrie and Big had their rehearsal dinner in the Sex and The City movie, with Michelle (Style Beacon) before calling it a night. PS I got my room upgraded my last night in New York due to some very annoying first world problems from the night before. It’s crazy how the small things can really ruin your experience. Thankfully my new room had outlets that worked, a heating and cooling system that actually regulated the room temp, and a coffee maker with all the parts needed to brew a cup of coffee in the morning…again first world problems.
Tuesday morning I had planned on getting up early to do some exploring but instead I ended up sleeping in due to the very late night. Michelle and I closed down Buddakan! I can hardly believe how late it was by the time I got into my new hotel room. I had a meeting scheduled at the new Alexia María boutique off Madison Ave. It was so fun to meet Alexia and her team and get to see the new collection and try some pieces on. I loved the collection and all the pretty bow details. I hope to be able to collaborate with them in the future.
Then it was off to the airport! My flight ended up being delayed a total of 5 times and I ended up needing to fly into SFO instead of SJC so that I could actually make it home on time. I arrived right before the 12th (Mason’s birthday) around 11:45pm and by the time I was reunited with Justin and Mason it was past midnight. It was a long crazy day of travel and I was just so happy to be home.
Thanks for reading all the way till the end and I hope you enjoyed all my NYFW diary posts. If you’ve missed any you can check them out here: dairy one, two, three, and four.
