If you didn’t already read my day one recap you can check it out here. Thursday was one of my busiest days and I can hardly believe I fit in as much as I did. With New York traffic you have to give yourself so much time to get from one place to the other. Thursday was also the hottest day of my trip which was a bit much for me.
Friday was so much more manageable temperature wise. Unfortunately, I woke up feeling horrible. I’m still unsure exactly why since I was drinking a lot of water. But perhaps I was dehydrated or was just experiencing a bad reaction to the heat and humidity. I woke up with the skin on my face feeling chapped (that’s the best way I can think to describe it). My face was burning and felt tight even though I did my normal skincare routine in the morning and in the evening which is very hydrating. I also had a pounding headache.
I had already scheduled another photoshoot with Tuy of White Tee Black Dress for the morning. This time I shared the shoot with my friend, and fashion week roomie, Dawn. I was able to shoot three more of my NYFW outfits but it was really hard to “be on.” While the photos turned out great, I felt the total opposite. I ended up skipping my first few shows of the day because I literally felt like I was going to fall over at any moment. Missing shows is the last thing I want to do but I felt that bad. I knew I needed to take care of myself.
I will say I had major FOMO missing the shows I had invites to. Checking out the collections as they posted online I was super bummed I didn’t see them in person. I know they would have been incredible shows. Luckily, Dawn did attend and I watched the videos she took of the final walks. It’s always so much more powerful to see the clothes come down the runway with the music selected. I’m all about the movement in the clothes which you can get a sense for in the professional photos but it’s never the same as being there.
Michael Costello‘s show was at 5pm that day and I definitely didn’t want to miss it. I always love his collections and this season was his first runway show as opposed to presentations which he’s done in the past. So, I rested up all morning and afternoon drinking tons of water and getting as much sleep as possible before attending his show. And I am so happy that I did because, WOW! His SS19 collection was stunning. There were so many beautiful gowns. A definite shift from past collections but you could definitely see his inspiration. I loved all the statement jewelry that went with his collection. The feather print dresses may be my favorite but that last sequin gown was breathtaking.

After Michael Costello, was Chromat. The main thing I love about Chromat is how size inclusive they are. And not only size inclusive but they have models that represent all types of people. It’s very rare to find that on the runway. From where I was sitting I could see the models right before they entered the runway. They were getting water splashed on them moments before stepping out. It really made the swimwear and coverups come alive. Everyone was responding so well to seeing all the models walk the runway. It was a lively show!

After Chromat, I was contemplating just heading back to my hotel room because I was getting tired and didn’t want to feel sick again on Saturday. But, there was a Lulus party that I didn’t want to miss. So I went with my friends Kat (Katwalk SF) and Michelle (Style Beacon) to the party. I didn’t stay long because I was fading fast but I did get to shop the Lulu’s boutique and pick out a dress and earrings to style as well as grab some light bites to hold me over till I got back to the hotel to eat.
That’s it for my NYFW day two diary. As always, thank you for stopping by the blog today!! Check back tomorrow for my day two outfit details!
