I can’t believe it’s already approaching the halfway mark of this seasons New York Fashion Week. It’s such a whirlwind of an experience. I’ve seen some great shows and presentations as well as met some really nice people. It’s so fun to be surrounded by people who love the exact same things as you do. The fashion industry is vibrant and full of energy and you can sense it though out the city during fashion week. This is the last season where it will be held at Lincoln Center and sponsored by Mercedes Benz but I am excited to see where the next location will be, downtown, or maybe the piers if the renovation will be done in time, as well as who will be sponsoring? I decide to mark the mid-week point by doing a quick recap of my favorite pieces in some of the shows I’ve attended so far. It was hard to narrow down so many amazing looks to just these seven but here are the top seven looks in my opinion from each of the designers collections.
Mara Hoffman:
I have always been a huge fan of Mara Hoffman’s prints. I feel her designs are effortlessly chic. Even though Mara is from New York her pieces remind me so much of California style, a kind of laid back glamour, and are very wearable. Her show made me want to escape this cold weather and take off to a tropical destination. I love that she moved away from her classic prints to try out some new techniques and as expected she was spot on. Not only is her collection out of this world, the styling for her runway show was totally on point. I loved the hair styles so much that I recreated the braided look the next day with the TRESemme team. It was so tough to select my favorite looks from her collection but these pieces really stood out to me.
Zimmermann:
I was so happy to receive an invitation to Zimmermann again this season. Last September I fell in love with her collection so much so that I have since been dreaming of a life where I can live in her clothes 100% of the time. But seriously, I’m obsessed with everything. This collection was no different. I love the use of vibrant, bold color combinations, and big prints but happy she also stuck with some of her ultra feminine florals. Again, it was so hard to narrow down the collection. Here are some of my favorite looks while also trying to show you the range of her collection this season. Start saving now, your closet will thank you later!!
Charlotte Ronson:
The Charlotte Ronson presentation was a little different than most presentations because rather than have the models stand in one place for the whole time she had a runway on loop! It was a great way to see the pieces from all directions as well as see how they move. I was pleasantly surprised how everyone was very thoughtful and once the collection had made it first full rotation the people in the front moved out of the way so that the people standing behind them could have a front row view of the collection. I’ve only had a piece of two from Charlotte Ronson up until this point but I definitely see some more in the near future after seeing her collection.
Custo Barcelona:
Oh man, was I impressed! Talk about and amazing runway. I am a very much into prints and color so his collection was right up my alley. His pattern mixing is totally on point and I learned a thing or two just by watching the different looks come down the runway. Out of all the pieces in his collection his dresses were by far my favorite and his use of plaid well, I must get my hands on the mixed plaid dress third from the bottom of my list of seven.
