I had a hard time planning my outfits for NYFW this season. Since my mom life and work life are so different than the glam of NYFW I’m finding it harder to justify some of the purchases I used to make for my outfits. I always try to buy pieces that I can wear again but can also be styled in a way that is more elevated than my usual outfits. I look for interesting hemlines, prints, and accessories that will elevate my outfit.
Last year I DIY’d a pair of pom pom heels which were a huge hit at the RewardStyle party. So this year I decided to DIY a denim jacket with a patch of my blog logo. I did a teaser on my Instagram and no one guessed what it was going to be. I am super happy with the way it turned out and wanted it to be the piece that rounded out my first look for day one. It was super hot on Thursday so definitely didn’t need a jacket but I just draped it over my shoulders for most of the day then as it cooled down I had it for the evening parties.
I got a lot of compliments on this dress. The asymmetrical ruffles made me immediately fall in love with it! I had actually planned on wearing my button front denim skirt over it for a more edgy look but forgot to pack it. I have no idea how that happened seeing as I’m pretty sure I went over my pack list more than once. Anyway, I would never style it that way in real life but for NYFW I thought it would be fitting.
I still think this look came together even without the skirt over but I know it would have been more street style with it. I’m planning on snapping a pic of this outfit with the skirt so you can see what my vision really was for this look and will post to my instagram stories.
