As things are slowly starting to open back up again in California and I am getting excited to resume some sense of normalcy. I know that going back to what normal was before all this is not possible but I think that our new normal will be a bright one. Mason and I have been at home for months. I have truly loved slowing down and spending so much time with him. I’ve been giving myself so much grace, and not stressing out about pumping out content like I was prior to covid. While this is my business, my priority is being a mom and with Mason home 100% of the time I’ve allowed myself to slow my content calendar down. It’s always somewhat of a struggle as I see other content creators still being able to produce content regularly as they were doing before. But then I remind myself that I can’t compare and I need to do what’s best for me and my family.
While Justin has been working (if you’re new around here, he’s essential as a fireman) when he’s home we’ve spent a lot of time working on home projects as well as having quality family time. We’ve enjoyed take out for dinner just a few times since shelter in place and so one of the things I am looking forward to most after shelter in place is lifted is being about to go out again as a family for dinner, as well as go on a much deserved date night! And so that I can wear some of my new dresses out!
This past weekend we were chatting about how nice it will be to get out of town, even if it’s just a short drive away. This time last year we had already been on multiple trips and prepping for Hawaii. Australia is out of the cards this year now thanks to COVID-19. That was supposed to be my big trip this year. But now that is something I am so looking forward to taking whenever it is safe to do so. For now, I have my sights set on a trip to Napa Valley and hopefully Tahoe and if possible back down to LA/Anaheim area to visit our friends and take Mason back to Disneyland. Maybe that is wishful thinking but I would love to be able to go back to the happiest place on earth and give Mason more fun experiences like that this summer. Honestly, if we could make it to CA Great America at least once, I’d call it a win!
But besides dinner out, date night, and possibly a short trip or two what I truly can’t wait to do is get together as a family again and host a backyard party for our extended family. I love hosting, and have been hosting Mother’s Day the past few years and was so sad I couldn’t continue that tradition this year. We also love having our friends over so that our kids can all play in the backyard and we can hang out and bbq. Our zoom calls have been fun but nothing replaces face to face.
What are you most looking forward to being able to do again?
